WHO WE ARE

Since 2013, NSBL has offered a learn to play development program and inter-league competition for children in St Ives and the surrounding suburbs. Currently members are in grades Kindy to Year 12. Our membership continues to grow weekly thanks to the support of the local community. All our sessions are fun, flexible, challenging and inclusive.

Players enjoy the opportunity to learn new skills in a supportive environment that encourages teamwork, builds confidence and strengthens resilience. Experienced and passionate coaches cater to all ages and skill levels. Sessions focus on fundamental movement skills, game sense and basketball-orientated skill acquisition.

The club is an exciting endeavour for the Ku-ring-gai community not only for its flexibility, approachable nature and the inclusive structure of the program but because of the local proximity for its members.

Safety for our members is paramount, closely followed by sportsmanship and of course, having fun. We are always open to feedback and look forward to hearing from members and parents on how we can continue to improve and grow the club.

NSBL started on an outdoor tennis court with approximately a dozen participants at our sessions.

During late 2013, NSBL relocated to St Ives High School, increasing in numbers and proudly finishing the year with 66 members.

2014 started with 80 participants in the first week, setting the bar high for what was an exciting year for NSBL. Mid 2014 our numbers had reached the outstanding milestone of 100! NSBL for 2015 started strong with 120 participants a week! Mid 2015 we had 150 members and growing.

End of 2016 we had 200+ members! Another milestone.

In 2017, our Inter-League Competitions expanded significantly (Grades 4/5, 6/7 & 8/9). The club ended 2017 with 250+ members each week and 400 members on the database.

2018 was another record breaking year for the club. Reaching 330 members a week & over 600 members on the database. New after school sessions were added to accommodate the growing numbers.

2019 proved to be yet another successful year. Reaching in excess of 380 members a week with additional hours of operation added early in the year. By End 2019 we were almost at 450 members!

2020 NSBL started strong with 400+ members a week. By mid-March the club closed due to the Covid-19 restrictions. NSBL remained closed until July, returning with a new website, holiday camps and a solid term 3 program given the circumstances. Term 4 2020 had the club back up to 400 members.

2021 starts the club in the NEW sports hall at St Ives High with over 475 members in the first week.

After a turbulent couple of years (thanks covid...), 2022 started with 600 members and reached new heights with every term.

Finishing Term 4 2022 with 750 members, NSBL has had an incredible 10 years of basketball.

A long overdue update: Mid 2023 NSBL has over 820 members a week! What a milestone!
48 teams playing on a Sunday, 8 Adult teams on a Wednesday night and many more exciting updates ahead of us.
